Day 19: When is the last time you ate fast food?
If I had to guess, probably when I was working as a preschool teacher and would do a drive-thru a few times a month.
Really, though, fast food is so not worth the amount of calories, it’s ridiculous. A spicy chicken meal from wendy’s (with fries and a coke) is all of 1220 calories for the whole. damn. thing. That is so offensive to me, since it’s not even filling and tastes okay, at best.
If it doesn’t taste wonderful, it is not worth the calories. I remind myself every time I eat something that will be higher in calorie. For 1220 calories in one sitting, it would have to literally cause me to orgasm and not be hungry until the next day.
There certainly ARE healthy options if you insist on eating fast food. Taking wendy’s for example again. If you ordered their Apple Pecan Chicken Garden Fresh Salad with a side of Apple Slices and an unsweetened Ice Tea, you’ve cut your meal down to 600 calories, which is very sensible.
The best tip to avoid fast food is to bring food with you. Pack your lunch for work, keep a few healthy snacks in your desk/bag/car that won’t go bad. If you aren’t hungry, you won’t stop for fast food (and you’ll end up saving tons of money).
